One of the best parts of my job as a newborn and child photographer is when babies I’ve photographed come back to see me for their first birthday photos. When Suttyn’s mama asked if I would be willing to photograph her boho themed first birthday cake smash photos, the answer was 100% YES!! We immediately started brainstorming this session together, coming up with (what I would consider) an adorable set! I used neutral tones, wood, macrame and plenty of texture to make this boho themed cake smash come to life!
The session started off with photos of Suttyn by herself, before introducing her cake. The goal was to document her growth from newborn to toddler. Her chubby hands and cherub cheeks make her look like a real-life porcelain doll! And, of course, we had to show off that beautiful dress!
BOHO CAKE SMASH PHOTOSHOOT FOR BABY GIRL
I provide a cake for all of my cake smash clients from a local baker, Voodoo Cakery. We chat about any food allergies beforehand, and then design the perfect cake. I love providing this service for my clients, as it takes another layer of stress off of them. For Suttyn’s session we went with a simple semi-naked cake and used a custom made wooden cake topper that fit the theme so nicely!
Obviously, the cake was a huge hit!
FIRST BIRTHDAY PHOTOS IN OKC
Once that cake is sufficiently smashed, it’s time for a bath to clean up the mess! Mom let me know that Suttyn loves bath time, and she sure did love splashing in my little vintage tub! We decided to continue with our boho theme and use some natural wood panels, pink florals and a beaded macrame. I also thought this sweet little floral headband fit the set nicely!
BOHO BIRTHDAY PHOTOS FOR BABY GIRL
I needed an excuse to use this bed from one of my prop vendors, Rozzi Rayne, so we decided to take advantage of Suttyn’s good mood! Sometimes photographing toddlers can be tricky. Toddlers typically either love the camera or hate the camera – there’s usually no grey area. It’s important as a photographer to maintain a calm presence, be as patient as possible and roll with the punches!
“When booking with Ashleigh she made me feel like family. She is very thorough and gives the best experience. When coming to my daughter’s first birthday photo session she took the time to have my daughter get used to her. The setups were beautiful, and she got some amazing photos of my baby that I cherish. Photos by Ashleigh is an amazing photographer and I will recommend her to anyone.”

Hello there! I know this is kinda off topic but I
was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform.
I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
Keep this going please, great job!
